The SOCAnation project was conceived after the Soca Warrior’s victory over Bahrain which gave T&T an entry ticket to the World Cup for the first time. The song “SocaNation” was written in England by Geraldine Conner and David Rubin. The song is inspired by the old inter college football chants/songs. The project is a contribution and celebration of the Soca Warriors and T&T in World Cup 2006, Germany. |
Sheldon Blackman was invited to take part in this
project, as a young artiste of T&T, by adding his voice and flavor to the
tune.
| Sheldon Blackman also contributed additional tracks: “We Coming” (1997) and “Two is Better Than One” in keeping with the theme and spirit of the project. Soca Fever (197x) a classic track from his father - the inventor of soca music - the late Ras Shorty I a.k.a Lord Shorty. That song is included on the album to draw the line back to where soca began right up to today’s SocaNation and Soca Warriors. |  |
